Anal Fistula
An anal fistula is an abnormal communication between the skin around the back passage and inside the anal canal or rectum. Untreated, it can lead to recurrent abscesses (pus filled cavities).
Treatment
This can a very difficult problem to treat as the aim is to get control of the situation without causing further damage to the muscles of the back passage (sphincters). This could lead to inadvertent leakage (incontinence) to wind or faeces.
